This is crazy.
Publishers Weekly, Kirkus Reviews, RT Book Reviews — those are all big-name places. Some writers spend their entire careers metaphorically waving their arms, hoping to catch the attention of these literary heavy hitters.
When one of them singles you out, even with a bad review, that officially says that you’re a Real Author.
Somehow, against all odds, I’ve not only gotten their attention with my urban fantasy debut It Happened One Doomsday, they’ve actually given me good reviews all around.
I’m still pinching myself.
But with all of the madness surrounding the book launch, I almost forgot to mention this thumbs-up review from another heavy hitter in the publishing world:
Library Journal. It’s a trade publication for librarians that’s been around for over a century. They have a circulation of 100,000 readers.
No joke. This is the big time.
When I found out they were going to review my book, I can’t even express how nervous I was. Like, chewing my nails down to nothing. Like, hiding in the dark and wearing a helmet. Okay, maybe not that bad. But almost.
When they finally published the review, here’s what they said:
