Exciting news! I’ve just released the newest Dru Jasper story: Put A Spell On You.
To celebrate, I’m giving away several copies to my readers. Leave a comment below and you could win it for free!
But first, let me tell you the story behind this story:
Hidden in It Happened One Doomsday is this quick exchange between Dru and Joe, the delivery guy from the neighborhood Chinese restaurant:
Dru slipped the honey-colored citrine crystal into a paper bag for Joe the delivery guy, and rung up the sale. “Remember, from your front door, you put this in the back left corner of the restaurant. Also, I put an extra little crystal in the bag for you. That one goes in your cash register drawer.”
Dru hit the SALE button, and the drawer slid open with a chime, revealing the chunk of citrine she kept in her own change drawer. “See? Prosperity and abundance.”
By the way, that’s really how you’re supposed to use citrine, if you’re into crystals. Put a little citrine crystal in with your money to help it grow, and a bigger crystal in the back left corner of your front room to draw in more wealth. Neat.
Anyway, I enjoyed putting that moment in the book because it provided a glimpse into how Dru uses crystals to help everyone around her. Not just powerful sorcerers, but friends, neighbors, and local businesses.
After the book came out, I wanted to explore more about how Dru knows Joe, the Chinese delivery guy. Plus, I had an idea about an ancient cursed statue and a vengeful evil spirit. So, I put it all together in this new Dru novelette, Put A Spell On You.
Three more things I want to share with you:
1. Just like Magic Carpet Ride, this is a prequel to It Happened One Doomsday, and accordingly it features Dru, Opal, and Rane. Also, a timeless Sumerian evil. And a heap of mouth-watering Chinese dumplings.
2. It’s shorter than a novel, longer than a short story. Put A Spell On You is actually seven chapters long, which technically makes it a novelette. Sounds so darn cute, doesn’t it? Novelette.
3. I’m going to give away three free copies of the ebook. For a chance to win, just leave a comment that answers this question:
What’s your favorite kind of takeout food?
(Bonus points if it’s a Chinese dish!)
